There's Something About Sundays

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
There’s something about Sundays. Not just for those who attend; but for those who serve.
For many, Sunday starts that morning. Outfits are laid out. Gospel music fills the room. Breakfast is cooking. There’s a quiet anticipation of what God is going to do.
But for the servant… Sunday started a long time ago.
It started earlier in the week, while preparing sermons, checking on members, visiting the sick, answering calls, sending texts, balancing work, family, and life. It started in the meetings, in the planning, in the quiet moments where you carry both vision and responsibility.
By the time Sunday arrives, you’re already poured out. And yet… you still show up.
There’s something about Sunday when you’re a servant.
While others are getting ready, you’re getting ready too, but your mind is already at the church. You’re thinking about the flow of service, the transitions, the people, the atmosphere.
You’re praying differently. Not just the public prayers; the private ones.
You pray that the service is upheld with dignity.
You pray the microphones work.
You pray the screens don’t glitch.
You pray that last week’s misunderstandings don’t spill into this week’s worship.
You pray that someone who walks in heavy… leaves free.
And somewhere between the shower and the drive, tears well up.
Because you know.
You know someone is coming in broken.
You know someone needs a word.
You know someone’s freedom is on the line.
And while you’re wiping your tears… you’re interceding for theirs.
There’s something about Sundays that people don’t talk about.
The quiet weight, The internal pressure.
The anxiety that sits in your stomach until the benediction is given.
You’re serving so much that sometimes… you miss the moment to be served.
You’re pulling from the music.
Pulling from the sermon.
Pulling from whatever you can… just to stay full enough to keep going.
And if we’re honest…there are Sundays where you wonder:
Am I doing this right?
Did I miss something?
Was that enough?
You prepare for worship… but also brace yourself for what might go wrong. Waiting for the pin to drop.
But right there, in the tension… in the anxiety… in the unseen weight…
Jesus steps in.
He reminds you:
“I’ve got this.”
“I called you.”
“I’m with you.”
“And you’re not empty…you’re Mine.”
So yes, there’s something about Sundays. But it also brings reassurance. Because by the end of the day, when the sanctuary empties, when the noise settles, when you finally exhale
God whispers back to you:
“You didn’t miss it.”
“You didn’t fail.”
“You belong to Me.”
And even if you felt like you weren’t poured into…
He reminds you
You were never running on empty.
You were running on Him.
