This month of July I am becoming intentional about getting my shape together. The plan is to make better eating choices, resume exercising, read some books that stimulate the mind, save financially, etc. I believe that through maintaining this routine I’ll see results in various areas of my life. Scripture records in 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” God’s plan is that we be in proper shape.
In our verse for today we are reminded that the work of shaping us or process of becoming has already begun. When we come into relationship with the Savior there is a shaping that begins in our lives, whether internally or externally. All the things we encounter in life can major influence our shape, the question has to be raised: What are you allowing to shape you? What relationships (good or bad), environments, decisions, unhealthy choices, etc. are shaping you? What we will allow to shape us can hinder the work that the Savior is attempting to perform in is. There are moments in life where we work against what the Savior is trying to work in and for us. And we must come to a place where we surrender to the work of Christ. The work is going to happen anyway, because it’s a continuous work that’s not completed until the day of Jesus Christ. I desire to wish the weight off, eat whatever I desire, spend how I want, and just watch Netflix, but that’s not healthy. I have to surrender to the plan even when I don’t agree with the process, because the Savior has already identified the destination. In the words of the songwriter Sim Wilson, Jr:
