Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is already the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers.
Romans 13:11 (NRSV)
In 1987 Rapper Kool Moe Dee raised an imperative question that is still relevant today, Do You Know What Time It Is? Look at the world today; constant crisis of violence we face daily, hurricanes, another strand of COVID has plagued our nation, individuals are still attempting to Make America Great Again, and the list goes on. Just considering these few things mentioned one would have to be attentive to the times. What comes to mind when you think about the time? How concerned are you about time? What effect does time have upon your life? How have you stewarded your time? We can live as if we’re not on borrowed time, but the psalmist warned us in the 90th division that we should “number our days."
Our passage today reminds us that we must understand the times in which we are living, time for sleeping is over. One day while in the office I walked to the supply closet and while passing by I noticed another supervisor in their office sleeping, unfortunately too many individuals like that supervisor have been caught sleeping while on the clock. Some have slept on dreams, possibilities, gifts, utilizing their voice to make effective change, families, restoring relationships, unforgiveness, etc. All I am asking is, “Do you know what time it is?” J.R.R. Tolkien stated, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” We are deeper into our salvation and our perspective should be different, we must move from rushing to recognition. Too often we are rushing because we fail to recognize the time. The summer is coming to an end and it’s back to school, work, etc., how will you steward your time in this new season?
Talk to me readers, I want to hear your thoughts...
I will steward my time by keeping an open mind, in learning forgiveness
