“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.“
Philippians 1:6 NIV
We have crossed over into another year, concluding 2023 and opening the door of 2024. Some have made resolutions, planning vision board gatherings, goal setting, going back to the gym (for at least the first two weeks of the year lol), and the list goes on. One of my favorite statements of the new year, “New year, New me.” Let me insert something new adding to the website, thought of the month: “A New Year doesn’t always equate to a new you, but it should always yield a better you.” New signifies another beginning, a brand-new start. What does this New Year signify for you? The dictionary defines the word beginning as the point in time or space at which something starts; new or inexperienced. What new experiences are you open to encounter with God this year? What new things are you desiring to attempt in checking boxes of the bucket list?
The Apostle Paul writes to those in Philippi stating that he thanks God for them in his prayers for how they have partnered with him in the advancing of the gospel. He also reminds them that they are continuously in God’s constructive project, the creator has begun the work, and it will not conclude until the day of Jesus Christ. It’s a new year but the same one who was doing the work in 2023 is going to do the work in 2024. We’ve come to another beginning but amid the change of year the same hands that kept you, covered, restored, strengthened, etc. will do it again. “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” Jude 1:24-25 (NIV)
