I Prayed About It

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I believe that everyone at some point or another has been in a place of praying to God about an issue, problem, or situation. Life consistently is happening for each of us and for the believer we understand that scripture points to prayer. “‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭33‬:‭3‬, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians‬ 4‬:‭6‬, “pray continually,” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬, and the list goes on. So the question before us today is what are you praying about? What do you have on your altar? There are several things that I’ve prayed about and a few I’m still praying about.

Our verse for today records the person who was given the thorn in the flesh, three times they pleaded with God to take it away. I prayed about it (the thorn), yet in the midst of my prayer it was not removed. One of the most difficult moments in the life of a believer is when you pray for God to change the situation yet it remains…. I’ve learned that what God won’t remove, God will provide grace. Grace doesn’t stop us from praying but rather shapes what we pray for or the mindset behind our prayer. Just because you pray about it doesn’t mean your desired outcome will be granted, but there’s honor in praying about it. Don’t stop praying!
